How big is the US men's grooming products market?
Grand View Research estimates the US men's grooming products market at $46.54 billion in 2023 and $50.35 billion in 2024[2]. It forecasts growth of 8.3% a year from 2024 to 2030, reaching $81.05 billion by 2030[2].
The firm links that growth to rising interest among men in personal hygiene and natural grooming products, and to a wave of start-ups in natural, organic and herbal grooming[2]. Its US report uses 2018 to 2023 as actual data and 2024 onward as forecast[2].

How big is the UK men's grooming market?
Grand View Research puts the UK men's grooming products market at $10.37 billion in 2023 and $11.32 billion in 2024, with a forecast of $19.54 billion by 2030[5]. That implies faster growth than the US, at 9.5% a year from 2024 to 2030[5].
As in the global market, skincare is the biggest UK segment, with a share of around 33.5% in 2023[5].
Why do men's grooming market estimates differ so much?
Market sizes depend heavily on definitions. The same publisher, Grand View Research, also has a report on the global men's personal care market that valued it at $30.8 billion in 2021 and projects $67.2 billion by 2030[6]. Even allowing for the different base years, that is roughly a tenth of its men's grooming products figure, because the two reports draw the category boundary in different places.
Other reports cover single niches. Grand View values the global beard care products market at $3.4 billion in 2023, estimates $4.2 billion for 2026 and forecasts $5.7 billion by 2030[10]. Its hairstyling products report, which covers men and women, puts that market at $27.30 billion in 2023 and $29.10 billion in 2024[11].
When a headline quotes a men's grooming market size, check the year, the region, whether it is a measurement or a forecast, and what product categories are included. Figures from different publishers, or different reports from the same publisher, are rarely comparable.

How big is the beard care market?
Beard care is one of the most clearly men's segments. Grand View Research values the global beard care products market at $3.4 billion in 2023 and estimates it at $4.2 billion in 2026, growing 7.7% a year from 2024 to 2030[10]. Europe was the largest region with a 39.9% share in 2023[10].
The same report calls wax and cream the most lucrative beard care product segment and expects it to grow fastest[10]. Our beard grooming guides cover how these products are used.

How big is the hair styling products market?
Pomades, clays, waxes, gels and sprays sit in the hairstyling products category. Grand View Research estimates the global market at $27.30 billion in 2023 and $29.10 billion in 2024, and forecasts $43.05 billion by 2030, a growth rate of 5.8% a year from 2024 to 2030[11].
That report covers products for all genders, so it is not a men's figure. It is still a useful upper bound for the styling products men buy most. Our guide to pomade vs clay vs wax explains the differences between the main men's styling products.
How much revenue do US barber shops make?
Market reports cover products. For services, the Census Bureau gives measured figures. In the 2022 Economic Census, 7,025 barber shop establishments with paid employees reported $1.66 billion in revenue[3]. Census Nonemployer Statistics counted 137,372 barber shops without employees, mostly self-employed barbers, with $4.19 billion in receipts in 2022[7].
Together that is about $5.85 billion in US barber shop receipts for 2022 (menhaircuts.net calculation)[3][7]. Self-employed barbers accounted for about 71.6% of that total (menhaircuts.net calculation). In 2023, nonemployer barber shops grew to 141,769 with $4.53 billion in receipts[12].
Beauty salons are a much larger business: $25.66 billion for establishments with employees and $24.27 billion for those without in 2022, about $49.94 billion combined (menhaircuts.net calculation)[3][7]. Many men get their hair cut at salons, so barber shop receipts understate what men spend on haircuts.

How much do Americans spend on personal care in total?
The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates total household spending across the country. In 2024 US households spent $132.52 billion on personal care products and services[4]. Of that, $64.96 billion went to personal care services such as haircuts and $67.56 billion to products[8][9].
These totals cover men, women and children together, so they are not a men's market size. They are useful as a reality check: a US men's grooming products estimate of $50.35 billion would be a large share of the $67.56 billion that households report spending on all personal care products[2][9]. Market reports often count sales at retail value through every channel, while the BLS figure comes from household diaries and interviews, so the two are built very differently.
What is driving growth in men's grooming?
Grand View Research points to men spending more on products for skin health, hair care, hygiene and appearance, with skincare, hair care, shaving, fragrance and beard care as the core categories[1]. It also notes that online retail lets men compare formulations and find niche brands[1].
Price growth plays a part on the services side. The BLS index for haircuts and other personal care services rose 3.7% from September 2025 to September 2026 (menhaircuts.net calculation from the published index)[13]. Methodology and limitations
Market estimates come from the free summary pages of Grand View Research reports (men's grooming products global, US and UK; men's personal care; beard care products; hairstyling products), opened on October 15, 2026; the paid reports were not purchased. Barber shop and beauty salon receipts come from the 2022 Economic Census (EC2281BASIC) and Census Nonemployer Statistics for 2022 and 2023, NAICS 812111 and 812112. Household spending comes from BLS Consumer Expenditure Survey aggregate expenditure for 2024. Combined receipts, shares and percent changes are menhaircuts.net calculations.
Limitations
Grand View Research's figures are commercial estimates and forecasts built on its own definitions; the methods behind them sit in paid reports we did not buy, and its reports disagree with each other because they define the market differently. We could not verify a second publisher's estimate for this page, so the market sizes rest on one firm. Census receipts are measured but lag by two to three years, and they classify businesses by main activity, so barbers working in salons are counted under beauty salons. BLS spending covers all household members and both sexes.
Every figure on this page links to its source. Numbers are reported as published; any menhaircuts.net calculation is labelled and shows its inputs. Spotted an error? Tell us and we will check it.
