Barbers are used to translating plain descriptions, and there are three tools that work better than vocabulary anyway: a photo, your hands, and a couple of simple sentences.

  • A photo. One clear picture removes all ambiguity. Show the front and the side if you can.
  • Your hand. Point at your own head: "short here, longer from about here up." Barbers read this instantly.
